Fiddlers, Students, Musicians, Dancers and Genealogists at the ICC

March is a busy month for the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton. As the region's largest Irish-American headquarters, the 46-acre facility has lots of ways to celebrate the St. Patrick's Day season.

On Thursday, March 8, Cynthia MacLeod, a great young fiddler from Prince Edward Island, performs a concert at the Centre, accompanied by guitarist and singer Gordon Belsher. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $10 for members, $12 for non-members.

On Saturday, March 10, the Centre's annual Irish Cultural Fair takes place, featuring the works of students grades five through 12. This unique student fair features written, oral and artistic presentations on Irish heritage. Winning entries are displayed at the Cultural Centre all weekend.

On Sunday, March 11, there's an open house at the Centre featuring continuous step dancing, music, children's activities and vendors.

On Saturday, March 17, the day begins with a Mass at noon, followed by a free afternoon of food, music and entertainment starting at 2 p.m. At 8 p.m. the Andy Healy Band plays a full evening of Irish music. Admission is $15.

On Sunday, March 18, the Irish Cultural Centre's Pub opens at noon, where you can greet your friends and meet members of the Centre.

On Saturday, March 31, the Irish Cultural Centre's Library committee teams up with The Irish Ancestral Research Association (TIARA) to present a full-day genealogy conference. Continental breakfast and lunch are included in the cost which is $65 for ICCNE or TIARA members and $70 for non-members.

In addition to these special events, don't forget the weekly music sessions at the Irish Cultural Centre's pub. Fiddler Aidan Maher leads the musicians every Friday night, starting at 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday singer/songwriter Sean Kane leads the session, which is free and open to the public.

You can get full details on all of these events by calling 781-821-8291 or visiting http://irishculture.org/calendar.html.
