CANTON, Ma. - The Irish Cultural Centre of Greater Boston will host the 5th annual Galway Races Gala on Saturday, July 25, featuring a festive celebration of Irish culture, community, music, food and fun.
The Gala, which runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Irish Cultural Centre’s expansive grounds off Route 138 in Canton, is inspired by Ireland’s world-famous Galway Races. The event brings the excitement and tradition of the Galway Races to Massachusetts. Guests are encouraged to dress in their summer best, including colorful hats and fascinators, creating the atmosphere of an authentic Irish race day.
"For generations, the Galway Races have embodied the very best of Ireland and the magic of summer traditions. Our Galway Races Gala pays tribute to this iconic event while creating a uniquely Boston celebration of Irish culture, community, and the enduring connections that unite Ireland and America,” said Martina Curtin, President of the ICC Board of Directors.
Event highlights include horse race betting games, a buffet dinner, best dressed competition, best hat competition, Irish music and dance. Watchfire (formerly Slante) will perform live music.
The Gala is one of the Irish Cultural Centre’s signature annual fundraising events. Proceeds from the Gala support the ICC’s mission to preserve, celebrate and share Irish culture through educational, cultural, musical and community programming for people of all ages throughout Greater Boston. Tickets are $85 for the general public, $75 for ICC members and $800 for a table of 10. Tickets are available at www.irishculture.org.
