Clearing skies on Sunday set the perfect backdrop as the Seisiún Festival brought Irish music magic to Suffolk Downs.
Despite rainy skies, Suffolk Downs was buzzing with energy this past weekend as the inaugural Seisiún Festival brought together fans of Irish music from across Boston and beyond. The two-day festival proved that a little weather is no match for great performances, community spirit, and a shared love of music.
Saturday kicked off with the lively instrumental sets of Holy Locust, warming up the crowd for the high-energy performance from The Hold Steady. Local favorites Dropkick Murphys then took the stage, delivering a powerhouse set that had fans singing along to every song and dancing in the rain. Their mix of Celtic punk and hometown pride made for a memorable night that set the bar high for day two.
Sunday showcased a range of talent that highlighted the depth of Ireland’s musical legacy. John Francis Flynn offered haunting folk melodies that resonated deeply with the audience, while Lisa O’Neill captivated with her soulful voice and socially conscious lyrics. Mairéad, joined by her two sons, delivered a heartfelt performance that blended tradition and contemporary folk, leaving the audience moved and inspired.
